This year’s, Blogging While Brown Conference was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (And yes, Philly was great. The city is remaking itself… putting a shine on the old, showcasing its history, and promoting its future.)

Blogging while Brown 2012

The conference not only answered technical questions about blogging, but spoke directly to WHY blacks and people of color need to view see themselves as the new independent journalist of their communities.

Essentially, BWB was exhilarating. For someone who has felt stranded on the Left (out) Coast for so long, to suddenly be in a room filled with intelligent black people (most of whom were sisters–hats off to ya) was like a starved man suddenly finding himself in front of a creative buffet of sheer beauty. View the video and read how D. Jones described it:

“Since its launch in 2008 Blogging While Brown has grown to become the premier blogging conference dedicated to education, collaboration, and innovation among bloggers of color. The conference brings Black social media experts, speakers, and independent content creators together to educate, inspire, and expand their influence in social media and technology. Along with panel discussions, keynotes, and networking opportunities this 2 day event also includes blogger training workshops.” by
